LocalBudget is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
1. Local-First Approach
LocalBudget is designed as a "local-first" application. Most of your data, including your budgets, account names, and transaction history, is stored exclusively on your device. We do not maintain servers that store your personal financial data.
2. Bank Synchronization (Optional)
If you choose to use the bank synchronization feature, LocalBudget integrates with SimpleFin, a third-party data aggregator.
- Storage: Your SimpleFin "Access URL" is stored securely on your device using system-provided secure storage.
- Credentials: We never see or store your bank credentials. All authentication happens through SimpleFin's secure bridge.
- Data Flow: Financial data is fetched directly from SimpleFin to your device.
3. Receipt Scanning (Optional)
If you use the receipt scanning feature, the processing of images and extraction of text is performed locally on your device using system OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities (such as Apple's Vision framework or Android's ML Kit). Images of receipts are not uploaded to any external servers by LocalBudget.
4. No Analytics or Tracking
LocalBudget does not use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking services. We do not collect data about how you use the application.
5. Data Deletion
Since your data is stored locally, you can delete all of it at any time by:
- Deleting accounts or transactions within the app.
- Clearing the application's data in your device settings.
- Uninstalling the application.
