1. Local-First Approach

LocalBudget is designed as a "local-first" application. Your financial data, including budgets, account names, and transaction history, is stored exclusively on your device. We do not maintain central servers that store your personal financial information.

2. Bank Synchronization (Optional)

If you choose to use the bank synchronization feature, LocalBudget integrates with SimpleFin, a secure third-party data aggregator.

• Storage: Your SimpleFin "Access URL" is stored securely on your device utilizing system-native secure storage.
• Credentials: We never see or store your bank credentials. All authentication is managed via SimpleFin's secure infrastructure.
• Data Flow: Financial data is fetched directly from SimpleFin to your device locally.

3. Receipt Scanning (Optional)

When using the receipt scanning feature, the processing of images and extraction of text is performed locally on your device using system-native OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities (such as Apple's Vision framework or Android's ML Kit). Images are not uploaded to external servers for processing.

4. No Analytics or Tracking

LocalBudget does not utilize third-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking services. Your usage of the app remains entirely private.

5. On-Device AI & Machine Learning Disclosure

LocalBudget uses artificial intelligence and machine learning features to enhance your experience. All AI processing occurs entirely on your device — no financial data, images, or personal information is ever transmitted to external servers for AI processing.

• Receipt Scanning: Uses Apple's Vision framework (iOS) and Google's ML Kit (Android) to extract text from receipt images. All image analysis is performed on-device using system-native capabilities.
• Category Prediction: Uses heuristic pattern matching to suggest transaction categories based on merchant names and descriptions. These predictions run locally using rule-based logic — no cloud-based AI models are involved.
• No External AI Services: LocalBudget does not connect to any third-party AI or machine learning APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Google Cloud AI, AWS). There are zero network calls related to AI functionality.

You retain full control over all AI-assisted features. Any data suggested by on-device processing — such as scanned receipt values or predicted categories — can be manually edited, overridden, or deleted at any time. AI features are optional and can be bypassed entirely through manual entry.

6. Data Sovereignty

Since your data is stored locally, you remain in full control. You can delete your data at any time by:

• De-linking accounts or deleting transactions within the app.
• Clearing the application's data in your device system settings.
• Uninstalling the application from your device.
